After School Program
On-site after-school care is provided until 5.30 pm Monday through Friday for children attending BCS as well as for preschool through elementary age children from neighboring schools.
The after-school program aims to provide an experience similar to going home after school. The children have a snack at 3:45 and at 5:00. They are provided opportunities and space to pursue activities as if they were at home including getting started on homework if need be. Individual, quiet activities often take place as children seek their own relaxation after school.
Fees for the after-school program are on an hourly, as-used basis.
School Holiday Day Camps
We also offer day camps during school holidays (midwinter and spring) for our students and other children aged 3-12 in the Bellingham area. Fees are per week or per day. Themes vary. Contact the school for details.
Early Release Day Care
BCS provides after-school care on early release days for students enrolled in Bellingham public schools. Contact the school for details.
Homeschool Support
BCS has long supported the value of homeschooling. A part-time, flexible schedule is offered to homeschool students who may wish to enroll at BCS for academic enrichment or to participate in art, Spanish, or general social activities. Students may enroll for one, two or more days or half days, according to their needs and interests.
Some families coordinate school activities with their homeschool plan, while others prefer to keep the two experiences separate. Children benefit from the focussed learning environment and the time spent with other kids at BCS. Parents are offered the opportunity to connect with the other homeschooling families at the school, to share experiences and offer mutual support.
And for families committed to home schooling but dealing with the necessity of employment, the flexible schedule at BCS is often the answer.
